I am very interested in golf. I started about 3 months ago, I play on a regular basis about 3 times a week. I am continually getting better and working with a pro to perfect my swing. I am looking to find some type of help with the funding for lessons, training, equipment, ect. I am mainly looking to pursue golf for college and possibly and hopefully further it to the Nationwide tour.
Also, I am 21 years old, I appreciate the advice, but I don’t think I can get into the junior leagues, but maybe the adult amateurs, do you think I’m starting too late? I mean I learn very quickly, I’m competitive (even though sometimes I think I’m too hard on myself) and the main thing right now is that I am determined. I am about to spend 2 grand at golf tech for 6 months of weekly lessons and unlimited practice…..In comparison from the pros to the good amateurs, what is the competiton like in the tournaments.

About a year ago I was really good with my woods and not so good with my irons and after taking about 6 months off I come back and find my wood shots to be horrible and my irons to be pretty good. I am trying to find my wood shot again, do you have any tips for me? I use a 8.5 degree driver and I when I hit it good I hit about 260 yards. I’ve also got alot better at my chipping and putting recently but still have much room to improve, are there any exercises I can practice in my yard?

Questions:
1) How can I get my good wood hits back?
2) Are there any exercises to practice my putting and chipping in my yard without any special equipment?

its that machine you see in stores which are dedicated to sell golf equipment for example golf town.
the machine is inside the room where you try golf clubs(in golf town its inside this room and you can try out their golf clubs.
you can take a golf ball and swing at a board then the computer calculates how far you’ve shot there is a projector so you can virtually see a golf course
i kinda know its like a few machines but i just wanna know the name of it
and also i think there a machine on the side so you can operate what you are going to do like just swing at a virtual gold range or go play 18 holes
i also have seen these in an apartment

in response to danbetti…im not really blaming my equipment for my bad golf game…what im saying is, if your clubs dont fit…can you really perform what should be a textbook golf swing…i kno eldrick woods can pick up any club and smash the cover the cover off…ive got some cheap clubs that are cast iron and apparently very hard metal, so the pro shop wasnt able to adjust the lie…which they say is about 2.75-3 degrees to upright…which means at address my arms cant hang the way a “proper” swing calls for…i asked this question because whats the point of me taking lessons learning how to make a good golf swing, when my equipment prevents right from the get go a proper set up…im asking this question to find out if others have faced the same thing…i wasnt really blaming on my cheap clubs…im partly blaming clubs dont dont fit properly…so this question applies whether or not im swing $2K set that dont fit…
