Golf Course Management is designed to prepare graduates for positions as managers and assistant managers of both public and private golf courses. Students receive “hands-on” training during two 216-hour summer internship experiences. First semester is 16 weeks; remaining semesters are 12 weeks each. Job duties may include managing personnel and public relations, overseeing food and beverage operations, administering financial plans, coordinating golf shop operations, managing the maintenance of facilities and equipment, directing turf and non-turf management practices, and complying with regulatory and legal issues. After completion of this program of study, students have the option to go right into the industry or to transfer to a four year college or university through established articulation agreements.
